ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
To ensure compliance with the existing guidelines and policy of Commission on Higher Education regarding Student Internship Program, the Cavite State University (CvSU) adapted the policy and guidelines mandated by the CHED CMO No. 104 S. 2017 or also known as the Revised Guidelines for Student Internship Program in the Philippines (SIPP) and CHED CMO No. 22 S. 2013 or also known as the Revised Policies, Standard and Guidelines on Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP).
RATIONALE
The Student Internship Program/On- the -Job Training is a highly organized training program under the supervision of an expert. This makes use of their knowledge, skills and attitudes to some practical situation in the workplce. It helps them to be familiar with the processes inherent in their areas of specialization as well as the nature of their jobs. This helps the trainees to sharpen their skills and at the same time improve communication and interpersonal relations. This allows the trainees to easily adapt themselves to their career and the workplace in the future.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Strengthen the implementation of the local and abroad internship/on-the-job training program through collaborative effort of the academe-industry linkage among participating HEIs and partner institutions/establishments.
Provide students with actual workplace experiences, exposure to various management styles, industrial procedures of different occupations in relation to their respective field of learning.
Give standards and guidelines for conducting SIP/OJT such as duration of workload, number of hours, learning objectives, monitoring scheme and sanctions.
Improve and establish strategic agreement between the academe and the government as well as the academe and private companies focusing clear objectives, clear expectations, establish method of learning verification and effective monitoring and implementation specific to the OJT program.
Give the students an insight into the industrial working environment to enable them to adjust more effectively to future employment in the industry, This will serve as a gradual transition from school to employment situation for the student.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To enable the students to undergo pre-employment experiences in industry/government agency/private institutions before graduation.
To provide students with opportunity to apply in the industry/government agency/private institutions the skills, knowledge and attitudes acquired in the course.
To supplement the students technical skills and enable the students to acquire saleable skills through training and work experience in actual jobs.
To acquaint students with job specifications, job description, job classifications, organizational charts, flow charts, time and motion study.
To acquire knowledge and technical skills in the operation of equipment/machineries not found in the school shop laboratory.
To equip students with the working knowledge of the dynamics of employer- employee relationship, the do’s and don'ts for industrial government agencies/private institutions workers, and the opportunities and benefits given to industrial /government agencies/private institutions workers.
To develop the student’s initiative and abilities to analyze and solve both technical and human problems in industry.
To encourage closer relationships between the school and industries/government agencies/private institutions.
